Above all, passion and affection is the key to the evolution of Jewel’s Southern Comfort.ABOUT THE CHEFBorn in St. Vincent, West Indies and raised in New York City, you’d think my palate is quite diverse. Well, it is, sort of. My mother raised me on healthy foods. I’m talking bean sprouts, tofu, fresh vegetables, and very few sweets. It was horrible – at least that’s what I thought as a child! My passion for food started in 1995 while living in San Diego, California. I attempted to make fried chicken from a cookbook, and let’s just say when I finished, there was about ¼ inch of cornbread coating on the outside, and my chicken was raw.When I moved to Kentucky that summer, I started learning some tricks of the trade from some folks who REALLY knew how to cook! I have always enjoyed entertaining and cooking for others. Over the years I have mastered “comfort foods”. Meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken noodle soup…those foods that only mama or granny can make just the way you like it.Jewel's Southern Comfort is committed to using fresh, whole foods with little or no preservatives, to prepare your most enjoyable entrées.
